Updates for residents  on a few items of local news

Hornsey Club celebration

The Hornsey Club was founded in 1870 and was due to hold a big celebration on its 150th birthday in 2020, but unfortunately Covid intervened. The Club has notified us that instead there will be a 155th anniversary celebration and fund-raising event taking place next Friday 20th June. This will include a 20/20 cricket match in the afternoon (at 3.30pm) against an England Legends XI. If you wish to attend, tickets will be £10 at the gate. There will be a party in the clubhouse afterwards until midnight.

Padel courts

Meanwhile the planning application for four padel courts at the club has been approved, but with conditions. These include an obligation to produce an ‘operational noise management plan’; a ‘car parking management plan’; and details of a secure cycle parking facility. The approved hours of operation are 8am to 8pm.

Fly-Tipping

Unfortunately there has been another incidence of fly-tipping at the entrance to the school field just below Montenotte Road. Shepherds Cot and CREOS are working with the school to try and counter this menace, but I would ask nearby residents to take a note if they see any suspicious builders’ vans travelling down Montenotte.

Hornsey Town Hall

Much has been happening behind the scenes towards the re-opening of the Town Hall in Crouch End. I recommend reading the latest update from the Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum HERE>>.
