New Committee – Issues Under Discussion

Your new residents association committee met earlier this week and these are some issues we discussed:

  • Controlled Parking Zone consultation. The Council is consulting residents on the parking controls in our CPZ zone (Crouch End ‘B’) and the last day to submit views is 23 November.  You can respond to the consultation here: https://www.haringey.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-travel/parking/parking-consultations/current-parking-consultations. We discussed whether some change to the controlled hours might help deal with the problem of commercial parking on Tivoli Rd and the bottom of Glasslyn Rd but we didn’t feel there was an easy solution and agreed to encourage residents to submit their own views.
  • Safer Neighbourhoods officers deal with local issues, including crime and anti-social behaviour. You can contact them directly by email at CrouchEnd@met.police.uk for non-urgent issues.
  • Hornsey Club proposal to build on the tennis courts: Save our Space N8 is campaigning to stop the Club’s proposal to build on protected Metropolitan Open Land. You can find out more about the campaign and its fundraising efforts here  https://saveourspacen8.info/
  • Trees: We are keen to take advantage of the ‘Trees for Streets’ sponsorship scheme which funding half the cost of planting new trees up to March 2023 https://sponsor.treesforstreets.org/provider/haringey-council. GMTRA has enough funds to sponsor three new trees, so if you would like a new tree near you, please let us know by replying to this email. Zander Calderwood is leading this project.
  • Flooding: We’re getting some very heavy rain at the moment and it’s important to keep the drains clear to prevent flooding. If you see a blocked drain, you can notify the council  https://www.haringey.gov.uk/contact/report-it or simply clear leaves away from the drain.
  • Membership: our membership year runs from October to September and the subscription is £5 per household. If you haven’t been able to pay yet and would like to, we’ll be knocking on doors over the next few weeks.
  • Website: there is lots of useful information on the GMTRA website. Take a look around while you are here
