Parking Permit Consultation Update

You may recall that the Council is intending to make changes to the fees for resident parking permits, and a consultation was held late last year to which GMTRA responded with comments. (More on our response here >>) The consultation period has now closed, and the predictable outcome is that there will be no changes to the proposals, with one exception (that doesn’t affect us), namely the reinstatement of daily visitor permits where CPZs are in force all day. Note however that the proposal to limit visitor permits to 40 per year was in fact never intended; it was just poorly worded.

The Key Parking Permit Changes

To summarise :

  • There will be a surcharge of 5% if your vehicle is more than 4m long, and a surcharge of 10% if your vehicle is more the 4.49m long. (It is estimated that 72% of vehicles in Haringey will fall into these categories).
  • There will be an admin fee of £25 for incorrect permit applications.
  • There will be a significant surcharge for any house with more than 2 permits.
  • There will be a fee to use the Electric Vehicle charging points of £3.63 per hour.

The precise timing of when these changes will come into force is not clear, but probably from April this year.
